East Carolina University uses a wide variety of communication tools available to notify students, staff, faculty and the local community about campus emergencies and critical information.

If you wish to receive direct notification of campus emergencies, complete the form below. Please be aware that you will not receive every communication we send to our students, staff, and faculty. Our first priority is to rapidly relay information to our students, staff, and faculty. ECU does not charge for this service, but you may be charged by your cell phone service provider for text messages based on your service plan.

Updating Your Info

Once registered, if you need to update your email or cell phone, send an email to with the updated information. Submitting a duplicate registration could cause an error.


Unsubscribing from ECU Alert

If you are currently receiving ECU Alert text and email messages and wish to have them stopped, please send an email to to be removed from the system.

If you just want to stop the text messages, text the word STOP to the last ECU Alert text message you received (do not include signature or punctuation).
